Abu Dhabi: Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has taken a major step towards integrating culture into education by launching new curriculum-linked initiatives across its cultural sites.
As part of this broader vision, Louvre Abu Dhabi has introduced the Museum Curriculum Portal, a digital platform designed to help teachers seamlessly connect the museum’s extensive art collection with UAE school curricula.
A New Way to Bring Art into Classrooms
The portal enables educators to incorporate museum artworks into lessons across all educational levels—from primary to secondary—and across a wide range of subjects, including mathematics, science, languages, history, and geography.
Developed by the museum’s Education and Learning Resources Department, the platform features more than 148 artworks and artefacts, including pieces from its permanent collection and international loans. Each resource is aligned with national and international curricula, while also supporting the UAE National Identity framework.
Easy Access to Curriculum-Aligned Resources
Teachers can explore a structured database of artworks, complete with detailed descriptions, scientific labels, and clearly organised curriculum links. The portal also provides:
Topic and keyword-based search for quick lesson planning
Exact gallery locations of artworks داخل museum
Links to both core and specialised subjects
Ready-to-use educational material across all cycles
This makes it easier for educators to design interactive and engaging lessons that connect theoretical knowledge with real-world examples.
Enhancing Student Learning Through Culture
According to museum officials, the platform aims to:
Encourage critical thinking and curiosity
Build cultural awareness and global perspective
Help students better understand complex concepts through visual learning
Maral Jule Bedoyan, Manager of Museum Education, said the initiative represents a “transformative approach” to education by embedding real historical and artistic examples into everyday learning.
Teacher Training and Future Expansion
To support effective use of the platform, dedicated training sessions will be organised for teachers. Each session will accommodate up to 30 participants to ensure an interactive experience.
An Arabic-language version of the portal is also expected to launch in the second quarter of 2026, further expanding accessibility.
Strengthening Cultural Education in the UAE
The Museum Curriculum Portal reflects DCT Abu Dhabi’s long-term commitment to enhancing education through culture. By connecting museums with classrooms, the initiative aims to create a more engaging, informed, and globally aware generation.
This move reinforces the UAE’s vision of an education system rooted in identity, innovation, and lifelong learning—where art and history play a central role in shaping young minds.
