Three Nurses Suspended in Kurukshetra Hospital Assault Case

Post by : Shakul

Following grave allegations of sexual assault against a minor at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra, the Haryana State Women’s Commission has ordered the immediate suspension of three nurses. This decision stemmed from Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia's on-site visit to assess the incident's context.

During her visit, Bhatia interrogated hospital management, medical personnel, and nursing staff about what transpired within the hospital. She expressed alarm over evident lapses in patient safety, particularly regarding how a minor was left unattended with a male doctor.

Initial reports indicated that the victim sought treatment for stomach pain, but allegations surfaced that the alleged perpetrator misrepresented her medical situation to exploit her trust. Law enforcement is currently investigating the case, while the hospital's handling of the situation is under scrutiny.

The Chairperson of the Women’s Commission inquired about the accountability of on-duty staff and questioned why neither nurses nor attendants were present during key moments. She insisted that healthcare facilities have an obligation to protect the safety and dignity of all patients, especially minors and vulnerable populations.

Bhatia further called for an investigation into how the accused physician was allowed to resume his duties despite facing prior legal issues. The Commission is also requesting in-depth reports from the hospital's management and relevant government entities to ascertain potential failures in their appointment and oversight processes.

The victim, currently under medical observation, has disclosed her experiences during a counseling session with Commission officials. They confirmed that efforts are being made to ensure the child and her family receive adequate medical, psychological, and legal aid throughout this ongoing investigation.

The Haryana State Women’s Commission asserted that if any negligence, misconduct, or complicity is proven among hospital staff, accountability will not rest solely on the primary accused. Authorities have pledged to conduct a comprehensive examination of all facets of the case to ensure justice and bolster patient safety protocols in public health facilities.
