Dubai Welcomes Record-Breaking OCEANMAN World Finals

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Dubai is poised to host one of the most significant open-water sporting events of the year as the OCEANMAN World Final Championship is set to take place at Kite Beach from 5 to 7 December. More than 2,800 swimmers from 93 countries will participate, making this the largest gathering in the event's history and highlighting Dubai's status as a leading global sports venue.

In collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, the championship will showcase athletes in men's, women's, and children's categories. The impressive turnout includes over 1,200 national champions and several Olympians traveling to the UAE, with nearly 80% of the participants coming from overseas, underlining the international appeal of Dubai's sporting calendar.

This year's lineup features some of the best names in open-water swimming. The women’s division boasts athletes like Barbara Pozzobon, Giulia Gabbrielleschi, and Rachele Bruni, while the men’s category includes competitors such as Logan Fontaine, Axel Reymond, and Andrea Filadelli.

The event will kick off on Friday with professional races, followed by team events and children's competitions on Saturday. Qualified swimmers from global OCEANMAN events will tackle challenging 10 km and 5 km races, enhancing the competitive atmosphere at Kite Beach.

Familiar faces will also return, including Ukrainian Olympic swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk, who has participated for the last five years. Starting fresh this year, Olympic swimmer Leonie Beck expressed her excitement, remarking on Dubai's impressive scale and the unique experience of racing at the beachfront venue.

As Dubai hosts yet again a premier sporting event along its iconic coastline, the OCEANMAN World Final promises a thrilling weekend filled with intense competition, diverse international participation, and a showcase of the city's capabilities in staging major global events.
