Oman Intensifies Diplomatic Efforts Amid Regional Tensions

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Oman has stepped up its efforts to manage the rising tensions in the region and prevent the escalation caused by repeated Israeli attacks.

These efforts are based on Oman’s long-standing foreign policy, which focuses on constructive dialogue, following international law, and finding peaceful solutions to maintain regional security and stability.

Oman’s credibility as a trusted mediator was evident when it took part in the 48th Extraordinary Session of the GCC Ministerial Council on Monday. The Sultanate's delegation, led by Foreign Minister H. E. Sayyid Badr al Busaidi, joined the session to address the rapidly changing situation in the region.

After the meeting, the GCC issued a joint statement condemning the Israeli attacks on Iranian territory, calling them a violation of sovereignty and international law. The Council urged for immediate de-escalation and the resumption of diplomatic talks. The statement also acknowledged Oman’s ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue, especially concerning the Iranian nuclear issue, which is vital for regional stability.

H.E. Sayyid Badr kept up his active phone contacts with international organizations and nations in the meantime. Speaking with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas was one of the conversations. Aligning global stances and enhancing political and legal pressure to stop Israeli assaults were the main goals of the meetings. Finding strategies to resume talks in order to bring calm back to the area and stop further military escalation was another goal of the discussions.
