Oman Police Seize Crystal Meth Worth Over RO 70,000

Suspects tracked from Shinas to Muscat in planned drug operation

The Royal Oman Police has arrested suspects accused of involvement in a planned drug-smuggling operation after authorities closely monitored their movements and routes. Police seized crystal methamphetamine with an estimated market value of more than RO 70,000, according to Oman Observer.

Police Track Suspects Before Drug Delivery

According to the report, investigators tracked the suspects as they prepared to move the illegal shipment from the Wilayat of Shinas to Muscat Governorate. Authorities said the operation had been carefully planned, with the suspects allegedly negotiating the movement of the drugs before the shipment reached the distribution stage.

The suspects reportedly used several methods to conceal their movements. These included frequently changing commercial vehicle licence plates, using forged identification and avoiding normal routes. Investigators also monitored their communications while tracking changes in their travel routes.

Special Tasks Police Join Operation

The Royal Oman Police focused on intercepting the shipment before it reached its intended destination. Investigation and search teams worked alongside the Special Tasks Police to monitor the suspects and determine the appropriate time to make the arrests.

After surveillance and route tracking, authorities carried out a coordinated operation and successfully apprehended the suspects. Police found crystal methamphetamine in their possession, with the seized drugs estimated to have a market value exceeding RO 70,000.

Oman Police Continue Drug Enforcement

The operation highlights the Royal Oman Police's continuing efforts to prevent illegal drug trafficking and intercept shipments before they reach distribution networks. The investigation reportedly involved monitoring the suspects' movements, routes and communications before the final operation.

Authorities are now completing the necessary legal procedures against the suspects in accordance with Oman's applicable laws and regulations. The report does not provide the number, nationalities or identities of the suspects.
