Pankaj Dheer, Renowned Actor from Mahabharat, Dies at 68

Pankaj Dheer, a veteran actor celebrated for his portrayal of Karna in the beloved series Mahabharat, passed away on October 15, 2025, at 68. He had been fighting cancer for several years, undergoing significant surgery in recent months, yet ultimately succumbed to the illness.

Firoz Khan, who portrayed Arjun in Mahabharat, shared the sad news on social media, expressing his heartfelt condolences. Accompanied by a photograph with Dheer, Khan noted, “Gentleman!!! Bids goodbye. Will miss you PD. Stay blessed.” Both fans and colleagues reminisced about Dheer’s unwavering commitment to his work in the Indian film and television industry.

Statement from CINTAA

The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) issued an official statement expressing their grief over Dheer’s passing. The statement acknowledged his death and mentioned that cremation services were held on the same day at 4:30 PM near Pawan Hans, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai. Dheer previously held esteemed positions within the CINTAA as its chairman and honorary general secretary.

Surviving Family

Pankaj Dheer is survived by his wife, Anita Dheer, a prominent costume designer. His son, Nikitin Dheer, is a recognized actor in several films by Rohit Shetty, including 'Chennai Express', 'Sooryavanshi', and 'Indian Police Force'. Nikitin's wife, Kratika Sengar Dheer, is also an accomplished television actress, and they became parents to their daughter, Devika, in 2022. The family is mourning the loss of Dheer.

Career Summary

Dheer had a rich career in both cinema and television. Alongside his iconic role in Mahabharat, he starred in hit titles like 'Sanam Bewafa', 'Baadshah', 'Chandrakanta', and 'Sasural Simar Ka'. He also ventured into directing with 'My Father Godfather'.
