Post Malone's Touching Tribute to Zubeen Garg in Guwahati Amid Ongoing Investigation

Post Malone's Touching Tribute to Zubeen Garg in Guwahati Amid Ongoing Investigation

Post by : Saif Al-Najjar

During his concert in Guwahati on December 8, Post Malone captivated audiences as he honored the legendary Assamese artist Zubeen Garg. This heartfelt tribute resonated deeply amid the ongoing investigation surrounding Garg's death.

As he took to the stage, Post Malone expressed his admiration for the city’s rich musical heritage. He remarked on the honor of being in the presence of a true legend and wished everyone an unforgettable evening. The crowd erupted in cheers, capturing the moment on social media, where many praised the sincerity of his tribute.

Zubeen Garg, a beloved figure in Assam's music scene, passed away in September 2025, leaving fans devastated across India. Initial reports indicated that he drowned while swimming near Singapore during a cultural excursion, with the Singapore Police finding no evidence of foul play initially.

However, the situation escalated in India, prompting the Assam Police to establish a Special Investigation Team and undertake a comprehensive inquiry. Over 60 complaints have led to raids on the homes of festival organizers, managers, security personnel, and close associates. The investigation is also scrutinizing large financial transactions linked to the case.

A subsequent post-mortem conducted in Delhi found no signs of poisoning, reaffirming drowning as the cause of death. Yet, the Assam government has publicly voiced suspicions of murder rather than an accident, leading to multiple arrests including a festival organizer and relatives involved in law enforcement. A chargesheet is anticipated soon.

In this tense and uncertain landscape, Post Malone's tribute emerged as a poignant moment of respect and solidarity, reinforcing the profound connection between Zubeen Garg and the people of Assam. Fans felt a sense of pride knowing an international artist paid homage to their cultural hero.

The concert was a landmark event for Guwahati, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extending a warm welcome to Post Malone, asserting that it positioned the city on the global entertainment map. This tribute stands as a testament to the worldwide respect accorded to regional creatives.

Ultimately, this moment illustrates how music transcends borders, emphasizing the quest for truth and justice. As fans celebrate the tribute, they also yearn for clarity regarding the mystery surrounding Zubeen Garg's death.

As the investigation progresses, the tribute in Guwahati symbolizes that legends endure through their music, their people, and their global respect.
