Spectacular New Year's Celebration at Sheikh Zayed Festival 2026

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Higher Committee of the Sheikh Zayed Festival is preparing to host an extraordinary New Year’s Eve event at Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi. This celebration promises to be one of the largest in the UAE and the surrounding region, blending a rich cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology to ring in the year 2026.

A standout feature will be a breathtaking 62-minute continuous fireworks display, one of the longest in history. This show aims to break five new Guinness World Records and will unfold in five distinct segments throughout the night. Kicking off at 8pm, the climax of the event will illuminate the Al Wathba skyline at midnight with advanced synchronization technologies.

Attendees can also look forward to witnessing a groundbreaking drone performance featuring 6,500 drones in a synchronized 20-minute display, showcasing nine massive aerial formations for the first time globally. It will be fully integrated with a digital countdown and the fireworks, promising a captivating and immersive experience for all.

This year’s festival will benefit from robust participation from official sponsors, strategic partners, and nations from around the world, each providing unique experiences within the festival grounds. Various governmental bodies will offer interactive cultural experiences, backed by technical expertise from specialized partners, while international groups will present musical and cultural performances, reinforcing the festival’s role as a global cultural hub.

Cultural programming will include traditional Emirati entertainment such as Al Ayala, Al Razfa, and Al Nadooba, along with performances by global groups. Attendees can also enjoy carnival parades, live music, and various cultural exhibitions throughout the evening.

Families can explore a variety of activities tailored for all ages, including children’s entertainment at the Kids’ Theatre and attractions at the newly launched Wonderland entertainment city.

To accommodate the anticipated crowds, the Higher Committee has enhanced operational measures, including increased entry and exit points, wider pedestrian pathways, improved safety and medical services, and the deployment of specialized teams to facilitate smooth crowd movement. Entry will be restricted upon reaching maximum capacity to ensure visitor safety.

The public is encouraged to follow official festival channels and secure their tickets in advance to guarantee entry and access to all amenities. These arrangements reflect the festival’s ambition to deliver one of the most unforgettable New Year’s celebrations in the region, merging tradition with innovation and first-class entertainment in a vibrant setting.
