Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has made significant enhancements to its Technology Operation Control Centre (TOCC), focusing on reinforcing smart services, operational efficiency, and cybersecurity measures across the transit network.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, RTA's Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, noted that the authority is committed to expanding its digital ecosystem to align with Dubai's ambitions of becoming the globe's leading smart city.
During a recent visit to the TOCC, Al Tayer emphasized RTA's adoption of cutting-edge digital technologies and artificial intelligence to bolster operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and support the future vision for smart mobility and digital advancements in Dubai.
He pointed out that investments in state-of-the-art technological infrastructure are crucial for ensuring the sustainability of services, enhancing the quality of life, and providing an overall improved customer experience.
Functioning as a central hub, the TOCC manages and oversees RTA's technical systems and digital services on a 24/7 basis. It operates on a unified framework dedicated to continuous surveillance, technical support, and resilience in business operations while upholding high standards for service quality and readiness.
Al Tayer remarked that digital transformation is a systematic approach based on smart data analysis, proactive operational monitoring, and swift decision-making processes. These technologies play a crucial role in reinforcing operational resilience, ensuring seamless services across all sectors of RTA.
He also examined the smart systems at the TOCC that monitor digital infrastructure, databases, and applications. Particular attention was paid to the centre’s cybersecurity strategies and mechanisms that guarantee effective 24/7 operations.
The TOCC consists of several dedicated operational units, including an IT Support Centre for technical assistance and an Operations Monitoring Centre that keeps tabs on system performance and identifies potential technical challenges at an early stage.
Specialized teams oversee and manage the systems to guarantee seamless integration and ongoing readiness of the technological framework.
According to the RTA, the enhanced centre has the capacity to operate and monitor more than 200 server-hosting units within data centres, efficiently managing over 500 support requests daily through a consistent monitoring system.
These advancements enhance the reliability of digital systems, boost operational performance, and ensure robust business continuity for RTA services.
Additionally, RTA confirmed that the centre has recently been awarded the international Tier III classification, a leading global benchmark for evaluating data centre reliability, operational readiness, and continuity of service.
