Bollywood Composer Sachin Sanghvi Arrested Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

Post by : Meena Hassan

Indian composer Sachin Sanghvi, part of the renowned duo Sachin-Jigar, was taken into custody on Thursday, October 23, following allegations of sexual assault. According to the complaint, Sanghvi allegedly promised a woman a role in a music album and proposed marriage before assaulting her.

The young woman involved stated that her communication with Sachin began in February of the previous year via Instagram. He purportedly assured her of work in his project and later exchanged personal contact information.

According to the complaint, the woman went to Sanghvi's music studio, where he allegedly proposed marriage and assaulted her multiple times. This case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Sanghvi's lawyer, Aditya Mithe, vehemently rejected the allegations. In a media statement, Mithe said, “The claims made in the FIR are completely unfounded and lack any support. The detention of my client by the police was unlawful, which justifies his quick release on bail. We are prepared to challenge these accusations fully.”

At this moment, Sachin Sanghvi has not made any public statement on the issue. His official Instagram account, @soulfulsachin, is currently inactive. Furthermore, Jigar, his music partner, has yet to publicly address the situation.

Sachin-Jigar is one of Bollywood's top composer teams, celebrated for producing popular tracks. Their recent projects include the Diwali soundtrack for the film Thamma, featuring Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana. Their work on Stree 2, especially the song “Aaj Ki Raat,” was a major hit, earning acclaim from audiences and critics alike.

This incident occurs as the Indian film industry faces heightened scrutiny regarding consent and harassment issues. The case underscores the vulnerabilities of emerging artists in the industry, often seeking chances but encountering risks of exploitation.

Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with additional legal developments anticipated in the near future. The case has prompted a wave of discussions on social media, with reactions of shock and concern emerging from fans and industry figures alike.

As the legal situation evolves, attention remains on securing a fair investigation while considering the rights of all individuals involved.
