As Salman Khan marks his 60th birthday, narratives of his genuine compassion for cancer patients come to light. Well-known activist and cancer care advocate Viji Venkatesh shared an inspiring message that transcends his film career, focusing instead on the lives he has touched with love and generosity.
In a poignant Instagram post, Venkatesh recounted her initial encounter with Salman Khan at Tata Memorial Hospital on November 17, 2010. She vividly remembered how he quietly handed her his contact number, encouraging her to reach out when assistance was needed. Over time, he upheld that commitment, frequently checking in and ensuring she had his latest contact information.
One particularly moving story illustrates Salman’s impact on a 12-year-old girl undergoing chemotherapy. Salman personally called to uplift her spirits, providing her with the encouragement she desperately needed. Now 27 and thriving, she is preparing for public administration exams—a testament to how one comforting voice can shape a future.
Venkatesh also mentioned Salman’s spontaneous hospital visits. Once, he even canceled a film shoot to spend time with pediatric cancer patients at KEM Hospital. These visits weren’t publicized; rather, he personally connected with the children, lighting up their faces with smiles and warmth.
His acts of kindness extend beyond individual cases. Salman often reaches out when he hears of someone battling cancer—be it a friend’s relative or a neighbor needing support. In a deeply poignant moment, he sent his own gold earring to a boy in Meerut suffering from bone cancer to provide comfort.
In another instance, when he learned about a young girl requiring a bone marrow transplant, he offered to bring his brothers for testing as potential donors. Additionally, when a child in Indore was unable to visit a film set, he graciously invited the child over, spending over an hour chatting and laughing, making the young patient feel uniquely valued.
Venkatesh affectionately referred to Salman Khan as her “friend in cancer care” for many years, a relationship that holds far greater significance than accolades or box office successes. In celebrating his milestone birthday, she expressed heartfelt wishes, emphasizing that he is truly one of a kind.
Salman Khan celebrated his 60th birthday on December 27 at his farmhouse in Panvel. The gathering was intimate and filled with warmth, surrounded by close friends, family, and a few familiar faces from sports and the film industry. It was a serene evening, characterized by conversation, laughter, and a simple cake-cutting—reflective of a beloved figure often perceived solely through the lens of celebrity.
These stories reveal that beyond the glamour, Salman Khan has stood as a pillar of support for many during their darkest moments. On this special occasion, it’s his humanitarian actions that resonate the most powerfully.
