The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has joined the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board as a new member for the years 2025 to 2028. This happened during the first meeting of the board’s 57th session, which took place recently in Geneva after the 78th session of the World Health Assembly ended.
At this meeting, the WHO Executive Board chose Saudi Arabia to be the vice-chairman. This shows that many countries trust Saudi Arabia’s leadership. It also highlights the important part Saudi Arabia plays in improving health around the world. The country is committed to helping the WHO face health problems that affect many people.
Saudi Arabia was picked for a three-year term on the WHO Executive Board during the 78th World Health Assembly session, which just finished in Geneva.
The Executive Board has 34 members from different countries. It has an important job: to carry out the decisions made by the World Health Assembly. The board also manages key health programs and policies that help people both in different regions and all over the world.
The Saudi delegation was led by Rakan bin Khaled bin Dheish, who is the Ministry of Health Undersecretary for International Cooperation. He represented Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel during the meetings.
