The government and people of Saudi Arabia are joining the United Arab Emirates in celebrating the UAE’s 54th Union Day. The day marks the formation of the UAE, and Saudi Arabia is showing great respect and support for this important national occasion. Both countries share a long history of friendship, cooperation, and strong ties formed over many years.
The UAE was officially created on December 2, 1971. On this day, the rulers of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah agreed to unite and form a new federal country. They adopted a temporary constitution that helped guide the new nation during its early years. Later, on February 10, 1972, Ras Al Khaimah joined the federation, completing the union and strengthening the new country's structure. This unity started a major period of progress, building, and national development across the UAE.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE share much more than political cooperation. The two countries have a common history, similar traditions, close geography, and strong cultural and religious ties. These connections have made their relationship stable and friendly for decades. The people of both nations feel close to each other, and this has helped build trust and unity on many levels.
The friendship between Saudi Arabia and the UAE has grown even stronger under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Both leaders place great importance on cooperation, regional stability, and mutual development. Their efforts have helped the two countries work together on important issues, including security, economy, and social development.
The UAE stands today as one of the most successful examples of unity in the Arab world. Over more than 50 years, the nation has built a strong and stable government system. It has also achieved great development in areas such as education, technology, infrastructure, tourism, and global partnerships. This progress makes Union Day an important symbol of pride for the UAE and its friends, including Saudi Arabia.
