Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha met with Tekedra Mawakana, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Waymo, during a visit to the United States. The meeting is part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to collaborate with leading global technology companies to develop smart mobility systems and autonomous driving technologies.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to work together to advance future transport technologies. These include autonomous driving, smart traffic management, and intelligent transport solutions designed to improve the efficiency and safety of urban mobility.
The discussions focused on supporting innovation in transportation through collaboration with companies like Waymo, which is recognized globally for its leadership in self-driving technology. The partnership aims to bring advanced solutions to Saudi cities, helping them become more sustainable, safe, and connected.
Minister Alswaha emphasized that autonomous driving and smart mobility are key areas for Saudi Arabia’s development. By partnering with global tech leaders, the Kingdom seeks to accelerate technological innovation and integrate modern transport systems that improve the daily lives of residents.
Waymo shared insights on the latest developments in self-driving cars, AI-powered traffic systems, and future mobility infrastructure. The meeting highlighted opportunities for joint projects, technology sharing, and pilot programs that could be implemented in Saudi Arabia.
