Saudi Foreign Affairs Envoy Meets EU Officials in Brussels

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy Adel Al-Jubeir held an important meeting in Brussels with David McAllister, the Chairman of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs. The meeting took place during Al-Jubeir’s official visit to Belgium, where he represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in several diplomatic discussions.

This meeting focused on strengthening the relationship between Saudi Arabia and the European Union. Both sides reviewed how cooperation can grow across many different fields, especially political, economic, and climate-related areas. The discussions also covered the latest regional developments and major global issues that affect both Saudi Arabia and Europe.

Al-Jubeir and McAllister talked about the strong partnership between the Kingdom and the EU, noting that both sides share long-standing ties and work together on many international matters. The meeting highlighted how important it is for both partners to maintain open communication and continue building trust through regular dialogue.

A key part of their conversation was the situation in the Middle East and how the region is currently experiencing fast-changing events. Both officials exchanged views on these issues, aiming to better understand each other’s perspectives. They also discussed efforts to support stability, peace, and development in the region, which are important goals for both parties.

Cooperation on climate and environmental issues was also part of the agenda. As Saudi Arabia continues to take strong steps in addressing climate challenges through national and international initiatives, the meeting allowed both sides to explore ways to increase joint work in sustainability and green solutions. This aligns with the Kingdom’s efforts to promote international cooperation on climate action.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials from the Saudi delegation. Present at the discussion were Ambassador Khalid bin Musaed Al-Anqari, Director General of the Office of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, as well as Haifa bint Abdulrahman Al-Jedea, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the European Union and to the European Atomic Energy Community. Their presence reflects the high importance the Kingdom places on its dialogue with the EU.

Throughout the meeting, both sides emphasized their commitment to continue enhancing their strategic relationship through collaboration in areas such as diplomacy, security, trade, and climate action. This engagement also supports broader goals of improving peace and stability at a global level.

Saudi Arabia’s discussions in Brussels further demonstrate how the Kingdom is actively strengthening its international partnerships and participating in major global conversations. Al-Jubeir’s visit highlights the Kingdom’s dedication to building a stronger future through cooperation, understanding, and shared values.

The meeting with David McAllister served as another step in deepening ties with the European Union. Both sides look forward to continuing their dialogue and expanding cooperation that benefits not only Saudi Arabia and Europe but also contributes positively to the broader international community.

In these discussions, the Kingdom highlighted its growing role in foreign relations, global diplomacy, and regional peace, ensuring that communication remains strong as both partners navigate current and future challenges together.
