In a major step to improve the Hajj travel experience, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has upgraded services at 11 international airports across seven countries as part of the Makkah Route Initiative. The program, led by the Ministry of Interior and supported by multiple government bodies, is designed to ease the travel process for pilgrims heading to the Kingdom.

SDAIA’s role focuses on providing technical support and digital solutions that make each phase of the journey smoother, from check-in at the home country to arrival in Saudi Arabia and the return trip. These improvements are powered by advanced technologies that rely on data and artificial intelligence.

To ensure things run without interruption, SDAIA’s teams are constantly monitoring all related systems at these airports. Their goal is simple: prevent delays and keep everything moving. If a technical issue pops up, it is handled immediately so the process stays on track.

One of the key upgrades includes the deployment of mobile workstations and biometric registration units. These allow for faster identity verification and quicker processing, making sure pilgrims are not stuck waiting in long lines.

Behind the scenes, SDAIA ran several high-efficiency tests on its systems and carried out full integrations with partner agencies. This level of preparation means pilgrims' biometric data can be captured and processed with speed and accuracy.

All of these efforts are part of Saudi Arabia’s larger commitment to improving the pilgrim experience. They also support the goals of the Pilgrim Experience Program, a key initiative under Vision 2030, which focuses on enhancing every aspect of the spiritual journey.

By combining technology, coordination, and a clear focus on service, SDAIA is helping ensure that pilgrims can travel with peace of mind and that their journey begins and ends as smoothly as possible.
