Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) will begin its third ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term. H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, will inaugurate the session at the Council’s headquarters on Thursday, 9th October 2025. This follows Emiri Decree No. 59 of 2025, which formally convened the Council.
Achievements of Previous Session
During the second session of the eleventh legislative term, held from October 2024 to June 2025, the SCC made significant strides. The Council conducted 17 plenary sessions, discussing several laws and public policies. These efforts contributed to developing the legislative environment in line with the emirate’s aspirations and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.
Laws and Public Policy Discussions
The Council reviewed and approved 10 draft laws covering vital sectors. Additionally, it discussed four general topics involving key government entities such as the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, Sharjah Health Authority, Department of Economic Development, and Sharjah International Airport Authority. These discussions allowed members to examine government policies in detail and monitor the implementation of recommendations.
Active Member Participation
Members actively participated in the sessions, submitting 93 requests to speak and recording 205 parliamentary interventions. The discussions demonstrated a high level of engagement and contributed to shaping the Council’s recommendations. In oversight work, members raised parliamentary questions regarding Emiratisation in the private sector and promotions within Sharjah Police and Security Forces. These efforts resulted in 25 comprehensive recommendations supporting development and modernization in Sharjah.
Committee Work and Field Activities
The Council’s committees, including Legislative and Legal Affairs, Financial, Economic, and Industrial Affairs, Education, Youth, Culture, and Media Affairs, Health, Labour, and Social Affairs, and others, held 43 meetings focusing on specialized topics. Committees also conducted 41 field visits to central and decentralized departments and authorities to better understand services, document information, and assess operational realities.
The Sharjah Consultative Council’s Office Board, led by the Speaker and committee heads, held four coordination meetings to guide the parliamentary and legislative agenda. This ensured structured management of discussions, aligned with the Council’s goal to enhance public service delivery and support the emirate’s development priorities.
