Shefali Shah says impostor syndrome persists as Delhi Crime Season 3 nears

Post by : Meena Hassan

Shefali Shah, known for her commanding screen presence across films and streaming shows, has revealed she continues to struggle with impostor syndrome. As the launch of Delhi Crime Season 3 approaches, the actor admitted moments of intense self-doubt when returning to the role of DIG Vartika Chaturvedi.

Having earned the Best Actress trophy at the Asian Academy Creative Awards for this character, Shah said acclaim does not erase the uncertainty. She described how, on set, she sometimes freezes when the director calls "action," likening the sensation to not understanding a foreign language.

Shah stressed that the unease is broader than a single part. She explained that with each new project she questions whether she truly knows the craft, and that questioning keeps her instincts sharp rather than turning performance into a mere routine.

Her work is driven by spontaneity and feeling, she added, rather than a fixed playbook. That instinctive method, Shah believes, is what keeps her performances alive; she joked that if she ever felt she had it all figured out, it might be time to step away.

The forthcoming season of Delhi Crime will feature Huma Qureshi as a new antagonist leading a human trafficking operation. Returning performers include Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, Sayani Gupta, Mita Vashisht and others. Directed by Tanuj Chopra, Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on November 13.
