Actor and singer Shehnaaz Gill, known for her role in Bigg Boss 13, recently spoke about the profound effect that the untimely death of her close friend Sidharth Shukla had on her life. During a podcast conversation, she delved into her emotional journey and transformation, illustrating how she keeps his memory alive.
Sidharth Shukla, who sadly passed away in 2021 at the age of 40 due to a cardiac arrest, left a significant void, particularly for those who were close to him, including Shehnaaz, who formed a unique bond with him on Bigg Boss 13.
Shehnaaz expressed that Sidharth's death ushered in a pivotal change in her outlook. She shared, “Sidharth has given me a lot of maturity. After everything happened, I've become more mature. Otherwise, I would have been the same carefree girl from Bigg Boss, not worrying about anything.”
Reflecting on her earlier self, she noted, “Sometimes I watch my old clips from Bigg Boss 13 and think, ‘What was I? Was I like that?’ Life has altered me. That girl was spontaneous and carefree, but life and my brother changed me.”
She also recollected fond memories of Sidharth's influence on her career decisions, recounting how he persuaded her to stay in Mumbai when she contemplated returning to Chandigarh after Bigg Boss 13. “I was planning to go back to Chandigarh, but he said, ‘You must stay.’ He managed everything for me back then. I was new to the city and focused on personal growth, refining myself to build my career,” she stated.
This crucial decision proved to be a transformative milestone in her life and career. Since then, she has significantly established her identity within the entertainment world, featuring in music videos, films, and branching into Punjabi cinema with Ikk Kudi.
The camaraderie between Shehnaaz and Sidharth during Bigg Boss 13 remains one of the most engaging narratives in reality television. While never officially acknowledging their relationship, their deep connection was evident to viewers.
In a prior interview, she admitted to feeling possessive over Sidharth, stating, “I don't care about physical appearance, but I felt protective because he was so handsome. It's natural to feel that way.”
Describing Sidharth as a constant source of support and security, she reflected on how his presence brought her peace amidst the hectic showbiz environment.
As more than three years have passed since Sidharth's death, Shehnaaz continues to carry his legacy in her heart. Over time, she has learned to channel her grief into personal strength.
From music videos like Tu Yaheen Hai, dedicated to Sidharth, to her Bollywood debut in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, she has cultivated a balance between emotional recovery and career advancement.
On her current perspective, she remarked that she is now more centered and grateful for life, saying, “I’ve learned to prioritize my well-being, cherish relationships, and appreciate the present moment. Sidharth taught me that real growth originates from within.”
Shehnaaz Gill’s recent disclosures underscore the enduring impact Sidharth Shukla had on her personal and professional spheres. His premature exit robbed her of a cherished companion, but his spirit continues to illuminate her journey. As she promotes her upcoming Punjabi film Ikk Kudi, Shehnaaz embodies strength, evolution, and resilience, reflecting the invaluable lessons left by Sidharth.
