H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, held multiple high-level meetings with foreign ministers and international officials during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The meetings aimed to strengthen the UAE’s ties with countries worldwide and promote collaboration on global challenges such as development, peace, and stability.
The engagements underline the UAE’s active role in international diplomacy and its commitment to fostering multilateral cooperation with nations and global organizations. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the importance of partnerships to achieve shared objectives and address global issues collectively.
Bilateral Talks with Foreign Ministers
Sheikh Abdullah met separately with ministers from several countries, including:

Justin Tkachenko, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Papua New Guinea
Carlos Ramiro Martínez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala
Maka Botchorishvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia
Alexandra Hill Tinoco, Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador
Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)
These discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring opportunities for partnerships in economic development, trade, investment, education, health, food security, cultural exchange, renewable energy, technology, and climate action. Both sides expressed a strong interest in enhancing collaboration that benefits their countries and the global community.
Advancing Global Sustainable Development

Sheikh Abdullah met with Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), to discuss strengthening cooperation in humanitarian efforts. They reviewed ways the UAE can support the WFP in addressing food insecurity and assisting vulnerable populations in regions facing crises.
This cooperation reflects the UAE’s commitment to global humanitarian initiatives and its proactive approach in supporting international organizations to address urgent challenges affecting millions worldwide.
