Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan conducted a review of significant infrastructure, transport, and logistics initiatives during his meetings with delegations from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group, and Etihad Rail in the Al Ain Region.
In his meeting with Abu Dhabi Airports, headed by CEO Ahmed Juma Al Shamisi, Sheikh Hazza examined development projects and activation strategies for the free zone at Al Ain International Airport. The discussions centered on fortifying integrated logistics solutions and bolstering connectivity between air and rail transport, thus enhancing the airport's stature as a pivotal logistics hub.
Topics also included strategic expansion endeavors aimed at improving passenger flow and upgrading airport facilities to align with the booming economic and tourism sectors in Al Ain Region.
Sheikh Hazza subsequently met with a delegation from AD Ports Group, led by Managing Director and Group CEO Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, who provided updates on initiatives underway by AD Ports Group and Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi in Al Ain Region.
These initiatives aim to establish Al Ain as a cohesive industrial and economic center. Discussions also pinpointed forthcoming projects geared towards advancing the food, agritech, packaging, and logistics sectors, while attracting investments and enhancing the region’s competitiveness.
In another meeting, Sheikh Hazza received a delegation from Etihad Rail led by CEO Shadi Malak. He was briefed about the current status of the UAE-Oman railway link project, particularly its significance in Al Ain Region, a critical location along the proposed route.
Officials reported that the railway project, being developed by Hafeet Rail — a joint venture among Etihad Rail, Oman Rail, and Mubadala Investment Company — is currently 40 percent complete.
The session also underscored future plans for passenger and freight rail services in the Al Ain Region, highlighting their role in supporting economic growth and enhancing the UAE’s transport infrastructure.
Sheikh Hazza underscored the necessity of fostering infrastructure and transport projects through a forward-looking strategy that bolsters Al Ain Region’s competitiveness, thereby promoting sustainable economic development. He noted that these endeavors will position the UAE as a global leader in trade, logistics, and advanced transportation solutions.
He commended the dedication of national teams and officials involved in strategic projects that advance developmental goals and improve the living standards in Al Ain Region.
The meetings were attended by Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with other officials from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group, and Etihad Rail.
