Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has officially inaugurated the 20th edition of Art Dubai at the picturesque Madinat Jumeirah, showcasing a vibrant array of global artistry from May 15 to 17, under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
This milestone event commemorates the two-decade journey of Art Dubai, emphasizing the expansion of Dubai's cultural and creative sector while reinforcing its stature as a prominent global center for arts and culture.
This year's fair gathers an impressive ensemble of galleries, artists, and cultural institutions from various parts of the globe, focusing on themes of collaboration, cultural exchange, and varied artistic viewpoints through a series of exhibitions, installations, discussions, screenings, and live performances.
In her inaugural remarks, Sheikha Latifa expressed that Art Dubai has mirrored Dubai's aspirations and openness to culture over the last 20 years. She emphasized how the event has matured from a local art fair into a pivotal international platform that connects artists, collectors, and cultural entities worldwide.
She noted that this special edition illustrates the development and resilience of Dubai’s broader creative community, nurtured through collaboration and a sustained vision to promote culture as a catalyst for opportunity and growth.
Sheikha Latifa reiterated Dubai's commitment to enhancing its role as a leading cultural hub globally by investing in creativity and fostering meaningful interactions.
During her tour of the fair, Sheikha Latifa explored various gallery showcases and notable programmes, including “Made Forward,” presented by the Dubai Collection, which delves into themes of belonging, memory, and identity, featuring pieces from over 20 private collections, including those of Sheikh Mohammed and her own.
Additionally, she visited an exhibition dedicated to modern Arab art by the Barjeel Art Foundation, alongside several impressive installations and site-responsive artworks scattered throughout the event space.
Throughout her visit, Sheikha Latifa engaged with artists, gallery owners, and representatives from cultural institutions, discussing the evolution of Art Dubai and its growing influence in the arts scene both locally and globally.
Accompanying her were Benedetta Ghione, Executive Director at Art Dubai Group; Alexie Glass-Kantor, Executive Director at Art Dubai Group; and Dunja Gottweis, Director at Art Dubai Fair.
Art Dubai 2026 maintains its commitment to accessibility in art and culture, offering free public access to numerous segments and initiatives within the fair.
This year’s showcase includes over 75 presentations from diverse galleries, institutions, and programme partners, featuring strong regional participation alongside international exhibitors from nearly 20 nations, in partnership with A.R.M. Holding and supported by key cultural institutions.
