Shilpa Shirodkar lauds Mahesh Babu's warmth during Jatadhara promotions

Post by : Meena Hassan

Actor Shilpa Shirodkar, marking her return with the mythological horror film Jatadhara, has re-emerged after years away from mainstream cinema. Starring alongside Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha, she has been actively promoting the project and spoke about her close bond with Telugu star Mahesh Babu, who is married to her sister and former Miss India, Namrata Shirodkar.

In a recent interview with host Prema, Shilpa described Mahesh as "one of the kindest souls" she has encountered. "I admire Mahesh not only for his acting but for his character. He carries no malice or jealousy and wishes well for everyone," she said. Mahesh Babu, noted in Tollywood for both his stardom and humility, is known to publicly support and praise films across industries. Asked if she had considered acting opposite him, Shilpa said she had not explored the idea and smiled, "Let's see how Jatadhara performs."

Shilpa Shirodkar was a prominent figure in 1990s Hindi cinema with credits including Khuda Gawah (1992) and Hum (1991). She stepped back from films after Gaja Gamini in 2000 to focus on family life following her marriage to Aparesh Ranjit. She later returned through television with roles in Ek Mutthi Aasmaan and Silsila Pyaar Ka, and appeared in the film Guns of Banaras (2020). With Jatadhara, she takes on a new genre as she returns to the big screen.

Mahesh Babu, last seen in the 2024 hit Guntur Kaaram, is currently working with director S.S. Rajamouli on a major action-adventure tentatively titled SSMB 29, reportedly featuring Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Mahesh and Namrata, married for more than two decades, are parents to Gautam and Sitara, both of whom have shown interest in acting and performance.
