Sonu Nigam prompts Satish Shah’s wife to hum his favourite song at prayer meet

Post by : Meena Hassan

Relatives and colleagues assembled on Monday in Juhu, Mumbai, for a prayer meeting to honour veteran actor Satish Shah. The gathering featured personal recollections, musical tributes and moments of quiet remembrance.

During the event, singer Sonu Nigam performed "Tere Mere Sapne" from Guide, reported to be Shah's favourite song, and invited his wife, Madhu, to join him in the tune.

Footage from the ceremony shows Sonu kneeling beside Madhu, taking her hand and encouraging her to hum along — a scene that visibly affected those present.

Actor Aanjjan Srivastav shared the video on social media, describing Sonu’s action as a meaningful addition to the memorial and noting how music brought people together that day.

JD Majethia, the creator of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, also commented, calling the moment "divine" and saying it reflected Satish Shah’s love of music.

Internet Reactions

The clip spread quickly online, attracting responses from fans and fellow artistes.

One viewer said the moment brought them to tears, while another pointed to Madhu’s final line, "Hum sang rahege," as particularly moving.

Several users praised Sonu Nigam for his compassion, calling it a thoughtful and fitting farewell.

Satish Shah’s Passing

The veteran actor died at 74 on Saturday after collapsing at his Mumbai residence during lunch. He was taken to hospital but could not be revived.

Shah had undergone a kidney transplant a few months earlier and had been facing health challenges. His funeral took place in Mumbai on Sunday.

Satish Shah enjoyed a long career in Indian entertainment, known for roles in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and films such as Kal Ho Naa Ho and Main Hoon Na.

He is remembered for his comic timing and memorable performances, which continue to be celebrated by audiences and colleagues.
