Envision a ring that only listens when you desire, capturing your thoughts and articulating them back in your own voice. This is the aim of the Stream Ring, an innovative AI-enabled wearable created by Sandbar, which was co-founded by former engineers from CTRL Labs, Mina Fahmi and Kirak Hong. After two years of development, the company is unveiling a device that makes engaging with AI seamless, secure, and personalized.
The Stream Ring presents itself as a simple yet elegant piece of jewelry, but concealed within is a compact voice-driven computer. Worn on the index finger, it activates through a thumb press, recording your speech and transmitting it via Bluetooth to its dedicated smartphone app. Unlike conventional devices, it doesn’t retain audio but rather transforms speech into text for later access through the app.
Sandbar promotes the ring as “the mouse for voice,” allowing for interactions that feel as natural as a whisper. Users can inquire, compile shopping lists, or brainstorm thoughts without needing specific wake words or screen prompts. A subtle vibration signals task completion, ensuring a discreet yet interactive experience. Additionally, it functions as a media controller: simply tap to toggle play or pause, double-tap to skip, and swipe to adjust the volume.
What sets it apart is the AI's capability to respond using your own voice. During the initial setup, the app records several phrases to create a voice model employing ElevenLabs technology. Users have noted a familiar yet slightly varied version of themselves speaking back — a feature that’s designed to simulate comfort while maintaining distinction.
Privacy is a top priority. The device exclusively records upon the user’s command, with no unintended audio collection. Additionally, the ring avoids any health tracking features, concentrating solely on cognitive tasks, reminders, and note-taking. It has a battery life that supports a full day’s use, complemented by a compact charging dock. A desktop interface is also available alongside the mobile app for enhanced note organization and sharing.
Targeted at those wishing to efficiently organize thoughts, schedule their day, or brainstorm, the Stream Ring is described by Sandbar as a “self-extension” rather than a mere assistant — it serves as a tool aimed at managing thought processes without being constantly monitored.
Available for preorder in the U.S., the Stream Ring is priced at $249 for the silver variant and $299 for the gold version. Preorder packages include a sizing kit and a three-month free trial of Stream Pro, providing unlimited interactions. Post-trial, users can opt for either a $10 monthly subscription or a limited free option. Shipping is anticipated to commence in summer 2026, potentially heralding a new chapter in personal, voice-activated AI wearables.
