Sultan Haitham Arrives in Bahrain for GCC Summit Participation

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain to take part in the 46th GCC Summit, marking another important moment in the region’s joint cooperation. His visit reflects the strong connection between Oman and Bahrain, and the shared commitment of both nations toward strengthening unity among Gulf countries.

Upon landing at Sakhir Air Base, His Majesty was greeted with great respect and warmth. His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, personally welcomed His Majesty and his delegation. This special reception shows the deep friendship and trust between the two leaders and their countries.

After his arrival, His Majesty the Sultan walked between two rows of the Royal Bahraini Guard of Honour, who stood ready to pay tribute to the distinguished guest. The ceremonial welcome highlighted Bahrain’s appreciation for the Sultan’s presence at this major regional event.

Following the honour guard, His Majesty greeted several senior officials who came to welcome him. Among them were Jassim bin Mohammed Al Bedaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC; Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Ma’awda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments; Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Information; Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate; Sayyid Faisal bin Harib Al Busaidi, Oman’s Ambassador to Bahrain; and Dr. Juma bin Ahmed Al Kaabi, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Oman. A number of senior military officials also joined the welcome.

In return, His Royal Highness Prince Salman also greeted the members of the delegation accompanying the Sultan. This exchange of courtesies highlighted the mutual respect shared between the leaderships of both countries.

After the welcoming ceremony, Prince Salman escorted His Majesty to the reception hall at the air base. During their brief meeting there, the Crown Prince warmly welcomed His Majesty once again, calling Bahrain the Sultan’s “second home.” The kind words reflected Bahrain’s close and friendly stance toward Oman.

His Majesty the Sultan expressed his sincere thanks for the warm welcome and thoughtful arrangements made for his arrival. His words of appreciation reflected Oman’s strong relationship with Bahrain and the joint desire to continue supporting cooperation among Gulf nations.

Later, His Majesty and the Crown Prince proceeded to Sakhir Palace, which will serve as the Sultan’s residence during his stay in Bahrain. The move marked the beginning of his participation in the 46th GCC Summit, where important discussions on regional stability, cooperation, and development are expected to take place.

This visit once again highlights the close ties between Oman and Bahrain and the continued efforts of Gulf leaders to enhance unity, support shared goals, and strengthen the future of the GCC. With His Majesty’s presence, Oman continues to play an active and respected role in regional decision-making.
