Tamil actor Abhinay, who gained fame for his role in the 2002 film Thulluvadho Ilamai, has passed away on November 10 at the age of 44, following complications related to liver disease. In recent years, Abhinay’s lengthy health struggle and public efforts for financial support captured the sympathy of fans and friends alike.
He began his acting career alongside Dhanush in Thulluvadho Ilamai, which marked a pivotal moment for both. Over his two-decade span in the industry, Abhinay made his mark in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films, racking up more than 15 credits that included movies, ads, and voice work. Notably, he provided the voice for Vidyut Jammwal's character in the hit 2012 Tamil film Thuppakki, featuring Thalapathy Vijay and directed by AR Murugadoss.
In the past few years, Abhinay candidly shared his liver disease journey, including a poignant video where he disclosed a dire prognosis of roughly a year and a half left to live. As his medical bills mounted, he reached out for help from colleagues and fans. Many in the industry, including comedian KPY Bala and his debut co-star Dhanush, came to his aid with financial contributions, a testament to the respect he commanded in the film community.
The Nadigar Sangam is currently managing Abhinay’s last rites, as he lacked immediate family to handle these arrangements. His untimely passing has left a deep void in the Tamil film industry and among his loyal fans, who fondly remember his contributions to regional cinema.
Abhinay’s memorable performances, especially in Thulluvadho Ilamai, will always be cherished, and his unwavering commitment to cinema during personal challenges reflects his lasting impact.
