The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand is undertaking a review of the development plans set for the fiscal year 2026, highlighted during a recent visit to Inspection Region 18 in Nakhon Sawan Province. This inspection was spearheaded by Songsak Songsoemudomchai, the Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, accompanied by other senior officials.
Key Policies Under Review
The primary aim of the visit was to evaluate the effectiveness of the main agricultural policies and confirm that projects align with government development goals. Meetings with local authorities preceded on-site inspections at various agricultural locations across the province.
Innovative Farming Techniques in Action
Among the inspected locations was the Pure Plus Farm Community Enterprise located in Pak Nam Pho Subdistrict. This farm employs low-energy plasma technology to develop beneficial microorganisms that recycle agricultural waste—such as rice straw, sugarcane tops, and other organic materials—into high-protein livestock feed. This initiative not only reduces farming expenses but also mitigates the PM2.5 air pollution caused by open-field burning.
Boosting Local Earnings Through High-Value Farming
Officials also reviewed initiatives aimed at enhancing farmers' income, notably through the One Locality, One High-Value Agricultural Product program. This scheme features the breeding of premium breeds like Thai Wagyu, which yields high-quality beef for top retailers, while doubling as an educational hub for farmers, students, and government representatives to learn modern livestock management.
Sustainable Practices in Organic Rice Production
Later, the delegation visited the Ban Bueng Krachang Ngam Community Enterprise in Krok Phra District to appraise the market-driven rice production strategy. This community enterprise produces organic rice free from chemicals, marketed under the D-Rice brand, and also processes local agricultural outputs into spirits, emphasizing sustainable practices and improved soil management.
Commitment to Agricultural Advancement
Officials noted that this inspection underscores the government's dedication to enhancing agricultural productivity, backing rural communities, and encouraging eco-friendly agricultural methods. Continuous monitoring of development projects is planned to elevate farmers' incomes and strengthen the competitiveness of Thailand's agriculture sector.
