Thailand's Media Fund Outlines Five Key Objectives for Safety and Creativity

Post by : Shakul

Supamas Isarabhakdi, the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office in Thailand, has laid out five significant policy objectives for the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, focusing on the upcoming 2027 fiscal year. Addressing a planning workshop in Bangkok, she indicated that these new priorities aim to foster a more secure, creative, and widely accessible media landscape for every citizen.

Five Principal Priorities Revealed

The Minister stated that the Media Fund's role will evolve from merely being a funding body to a collaborative partner for both public and private entities. The strategy includes backing local content developers, promoting Thai digital platforms, enhancing media literacy initiatives, creating safe educational environments for all ages, and refining laws to bolster creative industries and intellectual property growth.

Emphasis on Secure Media and Digital Education

Supamas highlighted the increasing vulnerability of children, youth, and older adults to online scams, misinformation, and harmful digital content. She urged that cultivating media literacy and safe online practices should be a national imperative, enabling citizens to navigate and utilize digital media responsibly.

Advocating for Content Creators

The Minister called for streamlining the funding process to alleviate bureaucratic hurdles, allowing deserving content creators access to financial assistance. She envisions a boost in the production of educational, cultural, and socially impactful content across various media platforms including television, radio, films, and emerging digital avenues.

Media Fund to Strengthen Collaborative Efforts

The initiative will enhance cooperation with institutions such as the Public Relations Department and MCOT to promote local creators and community-focused media projects nationwide. The goal is to cultivate a more secure digital ecosystem through robust collaboration among government, private sectors, and civil society.

Government Aims for Sustainable Media Growth

Supamas remarked that the 2027 operational strategy signifies the conclusion of the Media Fund's second strategic framework, paving the way for Thailand's forthcoming media evolution. She expressed optimism that stronger collaborations, increased public awareness, and enhanced safe media access will significantly contribute to enduring social growth and responsible digital engagement.
