Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma, the latest addition to Maddock Films’ horror-comedy slate, has struggled to hold its early box office momentum after 15 days, registering a domestic total of Rs 123.80 crore.
On Tuesday the film brought in around Rs 2 crore, a modest rise over Monday helped by discounted tickets and weekday viewers. The extended opening week delivered Rs 108.4 crore, marking a strong initial turnout. Thamma was the second-best opener in Maddock’s horror-comedy run, behind Stree 2, and recorded the biggest opening weekend of Ayushmann Khurrana’s career, eclipsing DreamGirl 2, which opened at Rs 10.69 crore.
The picture posted double-digit daily takings through day six, buoyed by positive word-of-mouth and holiday audiences. Collections, however, dropped noticeably after the festive window closed, reflecting a typical post-holiday softening. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that the film stayed steady overall, with weekday daytime numbers affected but evening shows and the South market giving it a lift.
Reviewer Saibal Chatterjee commended the leads for their screen work, observing that the pair convey much through expression and timing; he singled out Rashmika Mandanna for particularly strong work among the cast.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma features Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana in lead roles, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in key supporting parts. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film is tied to Maddock Films’ existing horror-comedy universe that includes Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya and Munjya.
Although box office pace slowed in the second week, Thamma remains a noteworthy entry in Maddock’s catalogue for its performances and its mix of humour and horror.
