The horror-comedy film, The Raja Saab, featuring Prabhas, has made an impressive mark at the box office, reaching ₹108.26 crore in India after its strong opening. On Sunday alone, it collected ₹19.1 crore across its various language releases.
With an opening weekend gross exceeding ₹150 crore worldwide, the film is on track to achieve a total of ₹200 crore globally before Makar Sankranti on January 14. Although collections decreased from Saturday's ₹26 crore, audience reception remains positive.
Directed by Maruthi Dasari, The Raja Saab narrates the story of a young heir who delves into his grandfather's mysterious disappearance, facing off against a spectral sorcerer in a haunted estate. The movie stars Prabhas alongside a stellar cast including Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal.
Prabhas is no stranger to major box office successes, having previously delivered hits like Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire that also kicked off with substantial openings. Notably, Kalki 2898 AD grossed over ₹543 crore, while Salaar grossed above ₹200 crore during its debut weekend. Additionally, the much-discussed Adipurush exceeded ₹215 crore on its opening weekend.
In an exciting development, a sequel titled The Raja Saab 2: Circus 1935 has been announced, with Maruthi Dasari returning as director. The release date is yet to be disclosed, but the audience is keenly looking forward to this next installment of the horror-comedy saga.
