The Raja Saab Off to a Strong Start at the Box Office

The Raja Saab Off to a Strong Start at the Box Office

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Prabhas has marked a powerful beginning for 2026 with his latest movie, The Raja Saab, which enjoyed a solid box office debut. Directed by Maruthi, this horror comedy received a mixed bag of responses from critics and viewers alike, yet it struck a chord with Prabhas' extensive fan following.

As per initial box office figures reported by Sacnilk, The Raja Saab amassed ₹15.34 crore net in India by 4 PM on Friday. With advance bookings starting off late and the film not fitting the mold of a traditional mass action flick, these opening figures are undeniably noteworthy.

Anticipated to have the weakest debut among Prabhas' post-pandemic films, The Raja Saab managed to surprise many by outperforming recent titles. It surpassed the morning collections of Dhurandhar, which had dominated the Indian box office for five consecutive weeks.

By 9 AM on its opening day, The Raja Saab had already exceeded Dhurandhar's previous day's earnings of ₹4.25 crore, officially climbing to the top of the box office rankings.

Although its opening figures fall short compared to Prabhas' earlier works like Salaar (₹90 crore), Kalki 2898 AD (₹95 crore), and Adipurush (₹86 crore), The Raja Saab is projected to outperform the opening day collections of other recent major hits including Jawan (₹64 crore), Animal (₹63 crore), Leo (₹64.80 crore), and Dhurandhar (₹30 crore).

The film's performance throughout the weekend will be crucial in determining its overall success.

The Raja Saab signifies Prabhas' return to the family entertainer category after over ten years, with his prior films largely revolving around grand action themes. Fans have dubbed this film a resurgence of “classic Prabhas.”

The cast features notable names such as Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab.
