Prabhas’ latest film, The Raja Saab, released on January 9, has made a significant mark at the box office. During its premiere week, it garnered a commendable Rs 130.25 crore, establishing a robust opening for this horror-comedy. Despite a minor dip in collections in its second week, the film attracted an additional Rs 3.50 crore on the eighth day, bringing its overall gross to Rs 133.75 crore.
On its second Friday, The Raja Saab recorded approximately 35% occupancy in regions where Telugu is spoken. The evening screenings were particularly popular, achieving a 43.54% occupancy. Afternoon showings followed closely with 37.57%, while night performances remained at 36.85%. Morning sessions, however, saw a lower turnout with just 21.57% occupancy.
The narrative revolves around Raja Saab, played by Prabhas, an ordinary villager living with his grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s and believes her husband, Kanakaraja, will return after a critical mission. The story takes a heartfelt and supernatural turn when Raja Saab meets a man resembling his grandfather. This propels him on a mission to reunite the elderly couple, blending emotional depth with supernatural elements.
Alongside Prabhas, the film features a talented ensemble, including Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Zarina Wahab, Samuthirakani, Boman Irani, Murali Sharma, VTV Ganesh, and Prabhas Sreenu. Produced by IVY Entertainment and People Media Factory, both known for successful ventures in the film industry.
Recently, director Maruthi Dasari announced that a sequel to The Raja Saab is in progress. He shared that while the sequel will adhere to the horror theme, it will introduce a fresh storyline and setting, setting it apart from the original. The aim is to enhance the horror experience with an innovative script that promises a unique exploration of the genre.
With its impressive box office success and the impending sequel, The Raja Saab continues to engage audiences while generating considerable anticipation among fans.
