Vietnam's To Lam Honors Historic Ties at China Site

Post by : Shakul

To Lam, the Vietnamese leader, made a significant visit to the historic Central University Campus in Nanning, Guangxi, during his state trip to China. Accompanied by his wife and a distinguished Vietnamese delegation, he was warmly welcomed by officials from Guangxi University who guided the visit.

He explored a photo exhibition showcasing the institution's history, known as Nanning Yucai School. This site is a poignant reminder of the strong ties between Vietnam and China, symbolizing decades of collaboration and shared challenges.

In his remarks, To Lam conveyed heartfelt sentiments, describing the site as emblematic of the enduring bond of “comrades and brothers” shared by the two nations. He reflected on the memories of the 1950s, recalling how Vietnam fought for its liberation with vital support from China.

He expressed gratitude towards the Chinese Party, State, and its people for their invaluable assistance during tough times, which included resources for building schools, ensuring student safety, and enhancing educational opportunities. He also recounted meaningful anecdotes involving teachers and students, highlighting their roles in the historical relationship between the countries.

To Lam reiterated Vietnam's appreciation for China's past support, recognizing the historical sites dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh as symbols of friendship that should be preserved. He referenced a visit from Ho Chi Minh to the school in 1957, emphasizing the critical values of gratitude, commitment to education, discipline, and national responsibility that resonate with future generations.

He expressed a desire for further educational partnerships between Guangxi institutions and Vietnamese universities, viewing them as bridges for cultural exchange and knowledge sharing. This collaboration, he believes, will nurture talents and deepen bilateral relations.

Originally established in 1951 as a training ground for Vietnamese cadres during their resistance efforts, the Central Campus has trained approximately 7,000 individuals, many of whom ascended to prominent roles as leaders, scientists, and cultural advocates. The site remains a steadfast symbol of the enduring friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China.
