A small aircraft tragically crashed near Tramore, County Waterford, Ireland, on Thursday around 12:50 local time, resulting in the death of the pilot. The pilot was flying solo at the time of the incident, according to official reports.
Emergency teams, including Coast Guard Rescue 117, quickly arrived at the crash site after the plane failed while approaching Waterford Airport. The remains of the pilot were subsequently taken to University Hospital Waterford.
The aircraft involved was a privately-owned Vulcanair P68C, which was en route from Sligo to Beziers, France. Reports suggest it had turned back along Ireland’s south coast and was heading towards Waterford before the crash occurred.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) conducted a preliminary assessment of the crash site on Thursday, with a team of four inspectors set to return on Friday for further investigation.
Investigators are actively working to uncover the precise cause of the crash. According to officials, there were no additional passengers aboard, and safety protocols are currently under review as part of the inquiry.
