Truecaller, the popular communication app, has launched a brand-new AI-powered voicemail service for Android users in India. This free voicemail feature is designed to modernize how users handle voice messages by storing them directly on their devices. This ensures complete control, security, and privacy over recorded messages, unlike traditional voicemail services that require dialing numbers or remembering PINs.
The new Truecaller Voicemail also includes spam and scam protection, making it easier for users to avoid unwanted calls. It provides smart call categorisation, adjustable playback speed, and instant transcription of messages in 12 Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Nepali, Punjabi, Sanskrit, and Urdu. The feature allows users to quickly read messages when listening is inconvenient, giving them flexibility and convenience in daily communication.
Setting up Truecaller Voicemail is simple and can be done within a few seconds, enabling unlimited voicemail for users directly through the Truecaller app. By making voicemail device-native and fully integrated with its calling platform, Truecaller is enhancing its position as a daily-use communication tool for millions of users.
Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, said, “Traditional voicemail was built for a very different era. With Truecaller Voicemail, we are rethinking voice messages for today’s users. On-device storage, instant transcription, and spam protection remove the limitations of old systems, offering a trustworthy and intuitive experience. This also supports a wide range of local languages, making the service more inclusive and relevant to users across India.”
Truecaller has a significant presence in global communication, with over 450 million active users and more than a billion downloads since its launch in 2009. In 2024 alone, the app blocked around 56 billion unwanted calls. Headquartered in Stockholm, Truecaller has been publicly listed on Nasdaq Stockholm since October 2021. The new AI Voicemail service is expected to further strengthen its role in protecting users from spam, supporting secure communication, and modernizing the calling experience.
The launch reflects Truecaller’s ongoing efforts to innovate in the field of voice and messaging services. By combining AI transcription, local language support, and advanced spam filtering, the platform aims to provide a seamless, efficient, and personalized communication experience for Indian users. It also opens the door for broader adoption of AI tools in everyday mobile communication, helping users stay organized, informed, and safe while managing voice messages.
