Trump Cautions Israel Against Escalating Syrian Tensions Post-Strike

Post by : Meena Hassan

President Donald Trump has urged Israel to refrain from actions that could further destabilize Syria, following a tragic incident in the village of Beit Jin which resulted in 13 fatalities. During a recent phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump extended an invitation for him to visit the White House, emphasizing the need for ongoing dialogue with Syria.

Trump expressed his approval of Syria’s new leadership under President Ahmed al-Sharaa and acknowledged the nation's progress in rebuilding after prolonged conflict, noting the potential for nurturing improved relations with Israel. Discussions between the two leaders included the expansion of regional peace agreements and the critical need to disarm Hamas, along with efforts to stabilize the Gaza Strip.

Despite recent ceasefire agreements, Israel has not ceased its operations against militant factions in surrounding nations, with recent strikes targeting Hamas and its allies. Trump reiterated the United States’ commitment to supporting Syria’s recovery and underlined the overarching goal of establishing lasting peace in the Middle East.

These talks occur amid continuing regional tensions and efforts by the US administration to enhance security collaborations between Israel and Syria, aimed at preventing further conflict and aiding in the reconstruction of the war-torn area.
