Thousands of Turkish Americans gathered in Santa Clara, California, on Friday to cheer for Türkiye during its World Cup match against Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.

The event attracted supporters not only from across California and the United States but also from several countries around the world. Fans traveled from Australia, Europe, Asia, and Canada to be part of the celebrations and support the national team on one of football’s biggest stages.

Fans Travel from Around the World

The World Cup atmosphere brought together members of the Turkish community from different regions and backgrounds. Many supporters described the gathering as a special opportunity to reconnect with fellow Turks and celebrate their shared heritage.

Ergun Kirlikovli, who traveled from Los Angeles, said he met Turkish fans from various countries and enjoyed the sense of unity created by the tournament.

Turkish Football Legend Joins the Celebration

Among the notable figures present at the event was former Turkish football star Hamit Altintop. He highlighted how the World Cup brings together people from different cultures, communities, and generations through their shared love of football.

Altintop said the tournament creates a unique environment where people from around the world come together and focus on the game, making the experience special for fans and players alike.

The celebrations extended beyond the stadium. The Ataturk Cultural House in Mountain View, operated by the Turkish American Association of California, is expected to serve as a major gathering point for Turkish supporters throughout the World Cup.

The association has planned events and community activities to allow fans to watch matches together and celebrate Türkiye’s participation in the tournament.
