The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Germany have officially started a new chapter in their strong relationship by launching the UAE-Germany Business Council (GUBC) in Berlin. The launch took place during a special event attended by over 150 important business leaders and top officials from both countries.

This new council is designed to make business ties between the UAE and Germany even stronger. It will help both countries increase trade, grow investment, and create more jobs, while also focusing on clean energy and sustainable development.

The event was held during the official visit of Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber to Germany. He is the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and also the Special Envoy to Germany. The event was also attended by Katherina Reiche, the German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy.

Launch of UAE-Germany Business Council

The UAE and Germany have officially launched the UAE-Germany Business Council in Berlin to improve trade, energy partnerships, and sustainable economic growth. This council will help businesses in both countries work together and open up new opportunities in clean energy, green hydrogen, wind power, and more.

Celebrating a 50-Year Partnership

The UAE and Germany have been close partners for over five decades. Their relationship is built on trust, respect, and shared goals. Both countries believe in working together to solve global challenges and grow their economies in a way that helps the planet.

The new Business Council is a result of this long friendship. It will bring businesses from both sides together, help share knowledge and ideas, and support clean and green technologies for the future.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber Speaks About the Council

During the launch event, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber gave a strong message about the importance of this new step. He said,

“In line with the vision of our leadership to create strong partnerships that support progress for all, we are focused on making the UAE-Germany relationship even stronger. This Business Council will build new chances to work together in important sectors, help businesses grow, and support a more sustainable economy.”

His words showed the UAE's goal to not only grow trade but also lead in clean energy and environmental efforts.

Business Leaders Sign the Council Charter

At the event, the official Council Charter was signed. This marks the official beginning of the UAE-Germany Business Council.

The signing was done by

  • Musabbeh Al Kaabi, representing the UAE side. He is the Executive Director of Low Carbon Solutions and International Growth at ADNOC, and he will serve as co-chair of the council.

  • Günther Oettinger, a respected German politician and former Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg, who signed on behalf of Germany.

Musabbeh Al Kaabi: Working Together for a Better Future

Musabbeh Al Kaabi also shared his views at the event. He said,

“The UAE and Germany both believe in innovation and working for the future. Our relationship continues to grow stronger. I believe this council will make our cooperation faster, help create new growth opportunities, and support a shared goal for a better world.”

His message reflected the importance of both countries joining forces, especially in green technology, energy, and future industries.

Masdar and EnBW Sign Clean Energy Agreement

A big highlight of the ceremony was the signing of an agreement between

  • Masdar, a UAE-based global clean energy company

  • EnBW (Energie Baden-Württemberg), one of the largest energy companies in Europe

They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on clean energy projects. This includes:

  • Battery energy storage systems in Germany and the United Kingdom

  • Offshore wind power projects in the North Sea and Baltic Sea

  • Exploring new work in green hydrogen and other renewable technologies

This deal shows both countries' strong commitment to a greener planet and using clean energy instead of fossil fuels.

Why This Council Is Important

The UAE-Germany Business Council is important because:

  • It will bring new trade and investment opportunities.

  • It supports the private sector in both countries.

  • It focuses on clean energy and sustainability.

  • It builds on 50 years of strong UAE-Germany ties.

  • It helps both nations deal with the challenges of climate change and global economic shifts.

What This Means for the UAE

For the UAE, this council is part of its long-term plan to become a global leader in clean energy and technology. By working closely with Germany, which is already strong in green tech and industry, the UAE can

  • Learn and share new ideas.

  • Create green jobs for young people.

  • Attract foreign investment

  • Grow its economy in a clean and responsible way

This supports the UAE’s bigger goals under UAE Vision 2030, which aims for economic diversification, sustainability, and global leadership in new industries.

What This Means for Germany

Germany, too, will benefit from this council. With support from the UAE, German companies can:

  • Expand their businesses in the Middle East

  • Get more access to clean energy investments.

  • Cooperate in technology, AI, and innovation.

  • Work with the UAE on hydrogen and renewable energy projects.

Germany sees the UAE as a reliable partner in the region—one that shares the same values for climate action and economic growth.

Looking Ahead

The launch of the UAE-Germany Business Council is only the beginning. Both countries are expected to continue building on this momentum, with more agreements, investments, and cooperation in the coming months and years.

It sends a clear message to the world: when countries work together with trust and purpose, big things can happen—from fighting climate change to creating better lives for people through innovation and job creation.

This new business council is a big step forward for both the UAE and Germany. It brings together government leaders, business minds, and energy experts to build a cleaner, smarter, and more successful future.

With a strong focus on green energy, sustainability, and private sector growth, the UAE-Germany Business Council is set to become a powerful platform for change.

In today’s world, where global cooperation is more important than ever, the UAE and Germany have shown that they are ready to lead together—not just for their own people, but for the planet as well.
