The United Arab Emirates has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to humanitarian assistance by carrying out the urgent medical evacuation of 57 patients and their family members from the Gaza Strip. This operation, part of the UAE’s Gallant Knight 3 initiative, adds to the ongoing relief efforts that began in October 2023. With this latest batch, the total number of evacuees has now reached 2,961, including both patients and their relatives. The initiative continues to serve as a lifeline for civilians caught in the middle of the ongoing crisis.
The evacuation was organized under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The Gallant Knight 3 initiative was launched to provide medical care and humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict in Gaza. Its primary goal is to treat 1,000 injured Palestinians and 1,000 cancer patients by bringing them to hospitals across the UAE, where they can receive advanced medical treatment and rehabilitation. This humanitarian mission reflects the UAE’s broader vision of compassion, unity, and support for those in dire need.
The latest evacuation was carried out via Ramon Airport in Israel and the Kerem Abu Salem crossing. This operation marked the 29th batch of emergency evacuations successfully completed by the UAE Aid Agency. Each operation is carefully coordinated with international humanitarian organizations and relevant authorities to ensure the safe transfer of patients. The process involves detailed medical assessments, secure transport arrangements, and immediate care upon arrival, ensuring that patients receive uninterrupted treatment from the moment they leave Gaza until they reach UAE hospitals.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, reaffirmed that the UAE remains committed to promoting rapid recovery and easing the suffering of people affected by wars and crises. He explained that the UAE’s humanitarian strategy focuses on providing swift and effective assistance in regions facing instability. Al Shamsi noted that the situation in Gaza continues to be catastrophic, and that the UAE is doing everything possible to deliver aid, support patients, and ensure their access to critical medical services.
Beyond the evacuation flights, the UAE’s relief operations extend across several fronts. The UAE Aid Agency oversees all local and international entities involved in delivering healthcare services, medicines, and supplies to those in need. One key part of this effort is the hospital ship stationed off the coast of Al Arish, Egypt. The ship provides emergency medical treatment to patients evacuated from Gaza, especially those with severe injuries or chronic illnesses. It also plays a crucial role in stabilizing patients before they are transported to hospitals in the UAE.
The UAE has also established a field hospital in southern Gaza to ensure that medical aid reaches people who cannot leave the area. This facility has become a vital center for providing urgent care to children, women, and the elderly—groups most affected by the conflict. The hospital’s team of doctors, nurses, and volunteers continues to offer treatment, conduct surgeries, and distribute medicine, working tirelessly under difficult conditions. Their presence underscores the UAE’s dedication to supporting all segments of the population in Gaza.
The UAE’s efforts in Gaza are part of its larger global humanitarian mission. The country has a long-standing tradition of offering aid to communities affected by crises, disasters, and conflicts worldwide. Through initiatives like Gallant Knight 3, the UAE demonstrates how compassion and solidarity can transcend borders. The evacuation of patients from Gaza not only saves lives but also represents the UAE’s ongoing pledge to foster peace, security, and hope for those in need.
Every operation carried out under the Gallant Knight 3 initiative reflects the UAE’s humanitarian values and leadership in global relief efforts. The safe evacuation of 57 new patients and their families stands as a testament to the nation’s unwavering compassion. It highlights the UAE’s message to the world—that humanity and care must always prevail, even in the most challenging times.
