The Dubai Press Club (DPC) held a significant dialogue session entitled “The Future of Regional Relations following the Iranian Aggression”, featuring His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, who chairs the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC).
The event welcomed Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, the Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, alongside Maryam Al Mulla, the Director of the Dubai Press Club. It gathered media leaders, content creators, and professionals from the media and political arenas.
In his address, Dr. Al Nuaimi elaborated on the prominent changes in the region affecting relations amidst rapidly evolving geopolitical landscapes. He identified both hurdles and prospects at both regional and international levels.
He commended the recent resilience and strength shown by Emirati institutions in light of aggression towards the UAE and Gulf nations. He noted the exceptional coordination among national bodies in safeguarding the country and its accomplishments, which impressed many observers due to their preparedness.
Dr. Al Nuaimi affirmed that the UAE prioritizes its citizens, highlighting instances where stranded travelers at airports received necessary support, illustrating the nation’s humanitarian ethos.
He further accentuated the media's role, equating it with defence, security, and the economy in national protection. Dr. Al Nuaimi portrayed media practitioners as the nationwide voice and noted that contemporary challenges encompass not only military issues but also media literacy and responsibility.
He emphasized the UAE's commitment to enhancing its defence, political, and economic frameworks while actively reshaping regional and international relations. Alleging that the nation's priorities are realigned with changing global realities, he voiced a commitment towards national interest as paramount.
Dr. Al Nuaimi pointed out that the UAE strives to forge genuine partnerships rooted in mutual interests rather than mere rhetoric, aiming for sustainable relations.
He also referenced security advancements, stating that the emirates successfully unveiled and dismantled a terror cell with ties to the Iranian government, which was purportedly plotting against national security. He applauded UAE security forces for their adept handling of this issue.
Regarding Iran, he articulated the necessity to differentiate the Iranian government from its citizens, asserting that ordinary individuals are often the true victims. He affirmed the UAE's respectful approach towards the Iranian community, ensuring equitable treatment without politicizing their existence.
Dr. Al Nuaimi issued a caution regarding misleading media narratives, emphasizing the need for accurate awareness and understanding of regional dilemmas. He reiterated the UAE's steadfast commitment to peace, stability, dialogue, and collaborative efforts.
In closing, he expressed gratitude to the Dubai Press Club for fostering a robust platform for dialogue and enhancing Dubai’s status as a regional and global media centre.
