UAE Marks Eid with Mass Wedding for 54 Grooms in Gaza

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The UAE’s humanitarian initiative, known as Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, celebrated the country’s 54th Eid Al Etihad in a very special way. As part of this effort, the UAE organised a large mass wedding for 54 grooms from the Gaza Strip. The event aimed to bring happiness and emotional support to young couples and their families who continue to face extremely challenging living conditions.

The wedding was organised under the theme “Thawb Al-Farah,” which means “The Garment of Joy.” This theme reflects the true purpose of the event — to offer moments of joy, comfort, and hope to people living through hardship. The UAE has been working continuously to support the social and emotional stability of families in Gaza, and this celebration is an important part of that mission.

According to Ali Al Shihi, the Head of the Emirati mission in Gaza, this mass wedding represents the UAE’s strong commitment to placing human wellbeing at the center of its humanitarian work. He explained that the event carries a powerful message: even during difficult times, happiness can still shine through. He added that the people of Gaza remain strong and resilient, and that their ability to celebrate life shows their deep determination and hope.

Al Shihi personally congratulated all 54 grooms, wishing them a meaningful and successful new chapter in their lives. He expressed his belief that this wedding is not only a celebration but also a reminder that hope continues to exist, no matter how difficult the situation becomes. He emphasized that these moments of happiness show the strength of Gaza’s youth, who continue to move forward despite the challenges of daily life.

The ceremony brought together more than 21,000 people from different parts of the Gaza Strip. Families, friends, and community members came together to take part in this joyful occasion. The event included traditional artistic performances that highlighted Palestinian culture and heritage. The celebration featured the famous dabke dance, folk songs, and other cultural presentations that created a lively, cheerful atmosphere for everyone attending.

The performances were more than just entertainment — they served as a reminder of the strong cultural identity of the Palestinian people. Music, dance, and storytelling filled the air, allowing families to momentarily step away from the hardships they face and enjoy a night filled with community spirit.

By organizing this mass wedding, the UAE aimed to support social unity, reinforce positivity, and help families build a stable future. Weddings are a significant part of community life in Gaza, and many young people struggle to organise such ceremonies due to economic difficulties. Through this initiative, the UAE offered direct, meaningful assistance that helps couples begin their married life with dignity and happiness.

The initiative also aligns with the UAE’s broader vision of promoting compassion, humanity, and solidarity across the region. At a time when Gaza continues to face major challenges, providing a celebration filled with joy sends a strong message of care and support.

This mass wedding stands as a meaningful example of how humanitarian efforts can touch lives deeply. It highlights the importance of spreading hope, supporting families, and strengthening social bonds in times of crisis. The UAE’s continued support through programmes like Operation Chivalrous Knight, cultural events, and social projects reflects a long-term commitment to helping the people of Gaza.

With moments filled with dance, music, celebration, and unity, the event brought smiles to thousands of faces and proved that even in difficult surroundings, joy can still be found. The UAE remains dedicated to offering long-lasting humanitarian support built on kindness, cooperation, and shared humanity.
