The Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA) is currently taking part in the 66th session of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) General Assembly. The important international event began today at WIPO’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and will continue until July 17. The meeting brings together official delegations, representatives from member states, and relevant international organizations.
UAE Delegation Led by Senior Police Official
The delegation representing the Emirates Intellectual Property Association is being led by Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidli. He is the Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Excellence and Leadership at Dubai Police and also serves as the Chairman of EIPA. His leadership reflects the UAE’s strong interest in protecting intellectual property and promoting innovation across all sectors.
Supporting the Global IP Protection System
Major General Al Obaidli shared that the UAE's involvement in this international meeting is part of its commitment to support the global system that protects intellectual property. He explained that the UAE considers intellectual property a key part of building a strong, innovative, and knowledge-based economy. By participating in the WIPO sessions, the UAE shows it is serious about working with other countries to protect creators’ and innovators’ rights.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
The EIPA aims to use this opportunity to build and strengthen international partnerships in the intellectual property field. By meeting with other member states and relevant organizations, the UAE is helping to shape the future of this important sector. The goal is to encourage creativity and innovation, not just within the country but across the world, by working together and sharing knowledge.
Exchanging Knowledge and Learning from Others
Major General Al Obaidli also emphasized the importance of exchanging knowledge and learning from other countries’ experiences. By staying up to date with the latest global trends, laws, and technologies in intellectual property, the Emirates Intellectual Property Association aims to make the UAE a key regional center for IP rights. This also helps the country stay ahead in promoting innovation and protecting inventors and creators.
Promoting the UAE as a Regional Leader in IP
The EIPA is working hard to ensure that the UAE remains a regional leader when it comes to protecting intellectual property. Its active role in international forums like the WIPO Assembly helps raise the country’s profile. It shows the world that the UAE is committed to fairness, innovation, and encouraging people to develop new ideas while feeling safe that their rights will be protected.
Working with International Organizations
The EIPA is focused on improving cooperation with many international organizations that specialize in intellectual property. The aim is to work together on shared goals, such as updating laws and using new technology to make the system more effective. By doing this, the UAE hopes to support creators and businesses while also helping other countries develop strong IP systems.
Supporting Knowledge Economy Goals
The UAE's participation in WIPO's General Assembly is also part of its larger goal to become a global hub for the knowledge economy. The country believes that protecting intellectual property is essential for building a smart, creative economy that attracts talent, investment, and innovation. This is why the Emirates Intellectual Property Association works hard to represent the country internationally and bring back valuable ideas.
Keeping Pace with Global IP Developments
The EIPA constantly follows new developments in intellectual property laws and systems around the world. It wants to make sure the UAE is always ready to meet new challenges and take advantage of new opportunities. By doing this, the country can offer better protection to its innovators and businesses while also helping international partners do the same.
Building a Strong Innovation Environment
At the heart of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association's mission is the goal of building an environment where innovation and creativity are supported and protected. The association believes that when inventors, artists, and entrepreneurs feel that their ideas are safe, they are more likely to create, invest, and grow. This is why attending global events like the WIPO General Assembly is so important.
UAE’s Role as a National Representative
The Emirates Intellectual Property Association plays a vital role as the national representative of the UAE in international IP discussions. It takes part in these events not just to learn but also to contribute ideas and experiences. It works to form strong partnerships with other nations, so the UAE remains a key player in global innovation and economic progress.
Supporting Business Competitiveness
Another important goal of the EIPA’s work is to improve the UAE’s business environment. A strong intellectual property system helps businesses grow and protects them from unfair competition. This encourages more local and international companies to operate in the UAE, knowing that their ideas and products will be protected by law.
Creating a Connected Future for Innovation
The UAE’s vision includes building a future where innovation, creativity, and intellectual property are connected across borders. The EIPA’s active participation in international forums supports this vision. It helps the country remain part of the global conversation on innovation while also bringing home new practices and insights.
UAE’s Ongoing Commitment
The Emirates Intellectual Property Association’s participation in the WIPO General Assembly shows the UAE’s deep and ongoing commitment to supporting innovation and protecting intellectual property. By working with international partners, sharing knowledge, and staying updated with new trends, the UAE continues to build a strong foundation for a creative and knowledge-driven future.
