UAE Kicks Off New FNC Session with Ambitious National Goals

Abu Dhabi — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, representing President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, officially opened the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the Federal National Council (FNC). This momentous event underscores the UAE's ongoing dedication to governance and development.

Attendees included His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, along with Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, senior officials, dignitaries, and members of the diplomatic community, highlighting the significance of this annual session.

The session was initiated with the recitation of Federal Decree No. (151) of 2025, which formally established the new session. The formal environment set the stage for a year of anticipated national progress.

FNC Speaker His Excellency Saqr Ghobash delivered a comprehensive opening address, emphasizing that 2025 has proven to be an exceptional year for the UAE. He pointed out the nation's enhanced global status in areas such as competitiveness, economic strength, security, innovation, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and overall quality of life. Furthermore, he remarked that the UAE's boost in global soft power rankings signifies its growing international stature.

Ghobash also highlighted that 2025 has been designated as the Year of Community and 2026 as the Year of the Family, further illustrating the UAE's commitment to social values and unity. He mentioned the federal budget approved for 2026, which is the largest in the nation’s history, showcasing significant economic confidence and sustained developmental aspirations.

He reaffirmed the UAE's unwavering support for humanitarian and regional priorities, including its backing for the Palestinian people, promoting dialogue, coexistence, and peace.

As the session commences, the FNC will continue its constitutional duties, aligned with the leadership’s vision for a prepared and forward-looking nation.
