The UAE's Olympic adventure in 2025 has unfolded as one of its most triumphant periods, highlighted by record-breaking medal counts and impressive athlete performances on both regional and international platforms. This year not only showcased athletic excellence but also illustrated the burgeoning talent and ambition of the nation's competitors across various disciplines.
During a session of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) Board of Directors in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the President of the UAE NOC, underscored how 2025’s accomplishments set new standards for the UAE Olympic movement. He emphasized that these successes are likely to inspire upcoming generations to exceed their limits while representing the UAE on the global stage.
The year kicked off with impressive performances at the 3rd GCC Beach Games in Muscat, where Emirati athletes achieved their best results to date, amassing a total of 23 medals. This success continued at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, where the UAE squad collected 31 medals, marking their highest tally at this event along with several record-breaking achievements.
UAE athletes also distinguished themselves at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, returning with 27 medals, the largest haul in recent history for the nation at this event, far surpassing previous results.
At the meeting, Sheikh Mansoor applauded the commitment, perseverance, and resolve exhibited by athletes across all competitions, highlighting that each victory represents national pride as the UAE flag was elevated. He reiterated that these milestones were fueled by dedication and a deep-rooted sense of duty to present the country at the highest levels of competition.
The Board meeting, which included Minister of Sports Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE NOC Secretary General Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, and other Board members, addressed several strategic initiatives. These encompassed the formation of new committees dedicated to ethics, values, Olympic solidarity, gender equity, and media relations, as well as endorsing technical and administrative plans for 2025 and provisions for 2026.
Board members also ratified financial guidelines, the finalized accounts for 2025, projections for the 2026 budget, and participation allocations aligned with the Olympic Activity Plan. Furthermore, the members reviewed preparations for the inaugural GCC Conference on Sports Law and Sports Management and discussed potential regulatory frameworks concerning sports federation elections.
The meeting wrapped up with the adoption of the UAE NOC's new logo and a recap of recent international engagements. His Highness Sheikh Mansoor also connected with members of the UAE national badminton team, who recently won the AirBadminton World Cup in Sharjah, marking the end of a year that firmly established 2025 as a landmark in the UAE’s sports narrative.
