Paresh Rawal Explains His Decision to Decline Role in Drishyam 3

Post by : Meena Hassan

Acclaimed actor Paresh Rawal has disclosed that he was approached for a role in the upcoming Drishyam 3, featuring Ajay Devgn, but opted to decline. He stated that although the script caught his attention, the character didn’t ignite his interest.

“Indeed, the creators reached out to me. However, I didn’t feel that the part was right for me. Maza nahin aaya (it wasn’t enjoyable) when I read about my character. The script is excellent, and I truly admired it. In a strong narrative, it's essential to have a role that excites you. Warna maza nahin aayega (otherwise, there’s no enjoyment),” he reflected.

About the Drishyam Franchise
Drishyam 3 will feature Ajay Devgn reappearing in his role along with Shriya Saran. Under the direction of Abhishek Pathak and produced by Kumar Mangat, it serves as the latest sequel after Drishyam (2015) and Drishyam 2 (2022). The initial 2015 crime thriller was a remake of the 2013 Malayalam film starring Mohanlal.

The teaser for Drishyam 3 was set for release this month but has been delayed. Sources indicate that an adaptation clause between the creators of the Malayalam series and the Hindi remake restricts promotional announcements without acquiring consent from the original team. In light of Mohanlal's shooting schedule announcement, the Hindi team has set a release date of October 2, 2026, a move that reportedly did not please the original Malayalam creators, Jeethu Joseph and Antony Perumbavoor, triggering the clause.

Paresh most recently appeared in the horror-comedy Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik.

The actor has a series of projects ahead, including Hera Pheri 3, The Taj Story, Bhooth Bangla, and Welcome To The Jungle.
