On Thursday, Liwa Sports Club proudly hosted its second Purebred Arabian Horse Race, attracting top owners, riders, and horse enthusiasts from the vibrant Al Dhafra area. This event highlighted the ongoing commitment to promoting and safeguarding the legacy of purebred horse racing, integral to the region’s equestrian culture.
The initial race spanned 1,700 metres, where “Al Habeeb,” owned by Ali Suhail Ali Al Mazrouei, seized first place. Following closely, “Safeer,” owned by Ahmed Mohammed Fan Al Muhairbi, finished in second, while “Sand,” owned by Saif A’shair Ali Al Mazrouei, took third. Spectators experienced thrilling moments, witnessing the speed, endurance, and capability of both horses and their riders.
The second race, covering a distance of 1,400 metres, proved to be just as exhilarating. “Maktoob,” also belonging to Ali Suhail Ali Al Mazrouei, triumphed after a swift run. “Janjal,” owned by Saif A’shair Ali Al Mazrouei, claimed second place, followed by “Meeqat,” owned by Fan Mohammed Fan, in third. This race showcased the extensive training and unwavering dedication of the participating stables.
Liwa Sports Club reiterated that this event forms part of a broader series of activities designed to uphold the tradition of purebred Arabian horse racing. By organising these competitions, the club strives to maintain the rich equestrian culture of the Al Dhafra region while inspiring young riders and owners to engage actively in this cherished sport.
The races attracted attention from local communities, car enthusiasts, and professional riders alike. Owners and trainers took pride in showcasing their finest horses, demonstrating the exceptional quality of breeding and training within the UAE. The event also created opportunities for connection and networking among key figures in the equestrian sector.
