Tamil actor and producer Vishnu Vishal has openly discussed his challenges within the Tamil film industry, revealing that even after the success of his hit thriller Ratsasan in 2018, he continues to face hurdles. While promoting his forthcoming movie Aaryan, he expressed his dismay at the lack of support from both producers and fellow actors, stating that it deeply “pains” him.
Challenges with Producers
Reflecting on his difficulties in launching projects, Vishnu mentioned that numerous films have encountered significant delays as producers backed out at critical moments.
“For Gatta Kusthi, we had six producers pull out at the last minute. In the case of Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran, four producers changed, and for FIR: Faizal Ibrahim Raiz, three walked away. Nine films I had lined up after Ratsasan were dropped altogether,” he revealed.
Vishnu noted that these setbacks forced him to take the reins in film production himself.
“All I wanted to convey is that I don’t deserve this treatment. It hurts to see. After hits like Gatta Kusthi and FIR, I had to wait three years for my next film. That's why I established my own production company. Once I assumed control, I was able to release my new movie in just a year,” he added.
Disappointment from Peers
Additionally, Vishnu expressed his feelings regarding the lack of acknowledgment from fellow actors in the Tamil film scene.
“I've noticed when my films release and do well, none of the actors I admire reach out personally. Instead, they call my director to congratulate him. They set up meetings with the director for their next projects, but I never receive a call. This really affects me,” he revealed.
Career and Future Endeavors
Vishnu Vishal began his acting career in 2009 with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. Since then, he has engaged in multiple roles as both actor and producer through his studio, Vishnu Vishal Studioz.
Earlier this year, his studio produced the romantic comedy Oho Enthan Baby, featuring his cousin Rudra in the lead role.
His next venture, Aaryan, directed by newcomer Praveen K, is also being produced by Vishnu himself. The film is expected to hit theaters on October 31.
