Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has arrived in Dubai to take part in the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum, representing Nigeria at the international gathering of city leaders, policymakers and urban experts.
His Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said Wike was welcomed by Nigerian Consul General in Dubai Zayyanu Ibrahim and senior officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration who reached the UAE ahead of the minister.
Wike is scheduled to lead a high-level panel discussion on Tuesday, addressing priorities for the development of the Federal Capital Territory and outlining Nigeria’s approach to urban growth. The session will cover sustainable urbanisation, infrastructure improvements and strategies to attract foreign partnerships.
The 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit, organised by Brisbane City Council, brings together government representatives, mayors, business leaders and young innovators. Under the theme “Collaborate, Inspire, Transform,” the summit focuses on building Centres of Connection, sustainability and raising urban living standards.
During the forum, Wike is expected to engage with international stakeholders on plans to strengthen Abuja’s urban framework, explore smart city solutions and identify long-term investment opportunities for the FCT.
The summit provides Nigeria with a platform to share policies on inclusive growth, infrastructure innovation and regional collaboration, while promoting the Federal Capital Territory as an emerging centre for development and international cooperation.
