Will Smith Hit with Lawsuit by Violinist Alleging Misconduct

Post by : Meena Hassan

Will Smith, the acclaimed actor and musician, is now facing legal troubles as violinist Brian King Joseph, who joined him on the Based on a True Story 2025 tour, recounts allegations of misconduct.

The lawsuit, lodged against both Will Smith and Treyball Studios Management, includes accusations of sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. Joseph asserts he was initially hired in November 2024 to perform at a concert in San Diego and subsequently invited to participate in Smith’s 2025 tour and other music initiatives.

The complaint describes how Smith began making personal comments suggesting a special emotional bond between them as their professional relationship progressed. One notable remark cited claims, “You and I share a unique connection that I can’t replicate with others.”

Among the allegations is an incident that allegedly occurred in March 2025 during their stop in Las Vegas. Joseph contends that his hotel room key disappeared for hours before being returned by hotel management, who were claimed to be the only ones with access.

Upon his return to the room, Joseph alleges he discovered indications of unauthorized access, including unfamiliar items such as wipes, a bottle of HIV medication marked with a different name, and a handwritten note addressed to him. The note purportedly stated, “Brian, I’ll return latest by 5:30, just us,” accompanied by a heart symbol and the name “Stone F.”

Feeling threatened, Joseph contacted hotel security, notified relevant tour representatives, and reported the matter to the local authorities through a non-emergency line.

Despite his efforts to address the situation, Joseph claims a management member later accused him of fabrication, leading to the termination of his role on the tour.

The lawsuit cites emotional distress, including post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as financial losses linked to the wrongful termination. Joseph is pursuing damages for the alleged harassment, retaliation, and termination, with a jury to determine the compensation.
